chunky cardigan

This is my second cardigan for Scarlett, I'm so happy with it. I have had a bit of help from Claire Mackaness at Beautiful things, with a quick flower tutorial from Attic24, and some lovely buttons from Claire's scrummy jars. I used Rowan Aran yarn, which is super and soft and really lovely to hook.

The pattern is one I found on Ravelry here. Its a doddle to follow, I did use a bit of artistic licence, and used a solid colour across the shoulders, where the pattern is a 'fair isle' effect. I also ran out of neutral yarn, so it has odd 'quirky' cuffs. hey ho. its cute and warm, so who cares...?

First crochet project

Having a nasty cold has been a real boost to my crochet plan, since I can happily sit on the sofa in the evening and get on with it, in the name of recuperation.
Here's my first project, baby leg warmers. I admit this was not the simplest of projects, as it involved a variety of stitch techniques. The first effort, on the right, using a Debbie Bliss organic cotton, went a bit awry, and I could not work out why the ribs were not looking 'ribby'. You tube came to the rescue, and I realised that I needed to hook through the back loop , not the front loop as I had been. I was thinking all back to front. So now my first success, in pink DK baby merino, Miss V has been proudly sporting my effort, while I make the second one. Bless her, little does she know the plans I have for her!

Refreshed

This evening I cooked myself a hot salad of leftovers, with a bit of egg and bacon thrown in. Surprisingly tasty.
I have spent the day tidying the shelves. We have so many books and papers, and they are all in the wrong places since we moved. I am desperate to get my sewing room back and make some things. All my ideas are spinning about in my head, but I just want to get them out there. I have chosen to brush up on my crochet skills and make a few small items, that with give me a quick creative fix. I just love these baby leg warmers from au coeur d'artycho... I think they would look so cute on Scarlett.
